About

A Canadian Saxophonist currently residing in Aurora and London, Ontario, Jonathan is passionate about performing in various genres and settings as well as education. 

An active musician in the area, Jonathan provides workshops across southern Ontario to saxophonists as well as high school jazz ensembles. He teaches students individually in his private studios located in Aurora and London as well as servicing the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). While he primarily teaches saxophone, he also provides lessons in music theory, music history, clarinet, and flute. 

Jonathan has had the opportunity to perform throughout Ontario at various conferences and festivals including the NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance) 2019 Regional conference, OMEA (Ontario Music Educators Association) Conference and the Atlantic Festival of Music, to name a few. 

He completed his BMus Ed with Honours in May 2019 from the University of Western Ontario where he studied with Dr. Bobbi Thompson and Barry Usher.

Classical

A classically trained saxophonist, Jonathan has had the opportunity to perform with various classical ensembles such as the Western University Wind Ensemble, and the Western University Saxophone Quartet. Following his time in university, he continues to study the repertoire surrounding the saxophone and performs alongside the LondOn Saxophone Quartet, and makes a point of not only performing and studying conventional saxophone repertoire, as well as new works for the saxophone. Throughout his University career, he has had the opportunity to work with notable guest artists such as Dr. John Sampen, Dr. Jonathan Nichol, Dr. Jeffery Leoffert, Dr. Jeffery Heisler, and Dr. James Kaylan.

Jazz

Seeking out to learn, Jonathan sought out multiple professors from various universities, such as the University of Western, University of Toronto, and Humber College for mentorship. He has studied under Dr Bobbi Thompson, Barry Usher, and Dave Neill. While studying at the University of Western he had the opportunity to perform with the award-winning Jazz Ensemble, Western University Jazz Combo 1, both under the Direction of Dr. Kevin Watson. Throughout his University career he has had the opportunity to perform alongside and work with notable guest artists such as Reggie Thomas, Dennis Mackrel, Jeff Campbell, Dr Andrew Bishop, and Ingrid Jensen. In addition to his studies at university, he performs in various venues with his jazz combo as well as performing as a solo artist. As a performer, he is in high demand, offering entertainment for various venues such as corporate parties, weddings, restaurants, store openings, concerts, and other various functions and events.
